Klein Animal Clinic was started in October of 2000. It has grown from a solo veterinary practice to a team of three doctors.

Dr. Sue Hartmann grew up on a farm in Eastern Iowa and graduated from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. After graduating she practiced veterinary medicine around eastern Iowa, then in North Carolina. She joined the Klein Animal Clinic when she returned to Iowa in 2005. In April 2018, Dr. Hartmann became the owner and managing DVM of the clinic. She has a special interest in small animal internal medicine. Dr. Hartmann and her husband also own Hammond Motorsports. They live with their cat Bernice and their 2 dogs Clark and Eddie. In her free time, Dr. Hartmann enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and pets.
Dr. Carls is thrilled to be joining the Klein Animal Clinic as an associate veterinarian. She is a Quad City area native from Orion IL who earned her Bachelors of Science in Animal Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She then went on to Kansas State University where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Her first job out of school was in Rockford, IL and after moving back to the QC area, she has been working as an associate doctor and an emergency doctor at the AEC. Her career interests include wound management, orthopedic surgery, palliative care and preventive medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and many dogs. She also enjoys woodworking, traveling to new and old places, cooking and finding new hobbies. Her short term goal is to have a Labrador of each color.
Rusty joined Klein Animal Clinic in November of 2018 after spending 5 years in the dental industry. Rusty is a Quad City native, growing up just south of the Quad Cities in Aledo IL and currently resides in East Moline. Rusty has two English Bulldogs, Max and Jaxen.
Dean is a registered veterinary technician that been working at Klein Animal Clinic since graduating in 2016 from Muscatine Community College. Dean has two cats and like to spend his free time playing tabletop role playing games.
In 2009 Carey starting out in a small animal practice as a kennel assistant. In 2010, she worked her way up to the lead technician working next to a board certified surgeon where she got to experience and learn a lot of amazing things. From that moment on she knew this would be her forever career. She joined Klein Animal Clinic in February 2019 and is now the head technician. Carey’s role here at the clinic is to train new technicians, bring in and enforce new ideas and medicine, maintain the maintenance of all the equipment and keep the techs and doctors on schedule. Carey has two grown daughters and has five dogs at home; a 13 year old Brittney, 12 year old Schnauzer, 11 year old Weimaraner, 10 year old Weimaraner and last but not least, Sir Fredrich James the one year old Labrador. In her free time she likes to travel to WI, spend time with family and cuddle with her puppies.
Amanda has been a part of the Klein Animal Clinic since 2017. Amanda plays a special role in our clinic as she is in charge of the clinics ordering and inventory. Amanda has one dog Karla, two cats, Arthur and Mia, 2 rabbits, Felix and Daisy and one horse, Chief. In Amanda’s free time she enjoys traveling with her husband Alex, horseback riding and being with her pets.
Ashley joined Klein Animal Clinic in June of 2019 after graduating from Muscatine Community College in May of 2019 with a degree in veterinary technology. Residing in Eldridge, she graduated from North Scott High School in 2015, gaining more interest in becoming a veterinary technician when she was involved in FFA. She enjoys spending time with family and traveling. She also enjoys going to tractor pulls, and attending stock car races with her boyfriend. She has one cat named Hoosier.
Cindy is one of our friendly receptionist and joined Klein Animal Clinic in 2017. She has one son Justin, daughter in-law Angela and two grandson’s Jayden and Jaxson. She enjoys spending time with family and her cat, Pepper. She also enjoys spending time outside in the summer and working with her flowers.
Aimee is a Quad City native and graduate from Orion High School in 2016. She has been working in the pet industry for three years and joined Klein Animal Clinic in September of 2019. Aimee currently resides in Davenport with her boyfriend and two dogs Ronan and Arjae. In Aimee’s free time she enjoys photography, spending time with family and going on adventures with her dogs.
Claire joined Klein Animal Clinic in February 2020. She has been married for 30 years to her husband John and they have one daughter that is going to school to be a nurse practitioner. Claire has owned many pets in her life including three horses, two cats and 4 birds. She currently has a 17 year old Umbrella Cockatoo named Tinkerbell and a 14 year old Yorkie Poo, Mazie.
Brittany has been with Klein Animal Clinic for the past several years as an intern. She graduated from Augustana College in 2019 and has taken a full time position with the clinic. Brittany has a lively Siamese cat that likes to dig holes.
Mac is Klein Animal Clinic's full-time resident cat. He came to us in April of 2018

Klein has taken great care of my pets so far and go above and beyond to help diagnose a problem. I recently got a dog from the shelter and she has a couple medical problems that we needed medicine to treat. That was almost a week ago.
Today, they called me just to check in and see how my dog was feeling/doing. I am so thrilled that they called just to check up on her. Makes me a happy dog mom and I will definitely be returning. Thank you for loving my fur baby!
I originally started my Yorkie Daisy, with a different vet. She is now six years old. I’d heard so many good things about Dr. Hartman from many friends, I just knew I had to take my third daughter to her. When Dr. Hartman diagnosed her with Diabetes, I was so relieved to know she would help me through this and was going to be her Doctor. I’ve seen plenty of Vets with plenty of animals throughout my 72 years..Dr. Hartman cares, and you’d be blessed to have her as your fur babies Doctor…I wish I’d found her six years ago..I am so welcomed by Cindy, and Heather is a blessing.
